Dream Yoga and Lüjong Yoga

Lucid Dream and Liberation Through Dreaming

Retreat guided by the renowned Tibetan physician and Yuthok Nyingthig lineage master, Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, featuring daily Lüjong Yoga sessions led by Liz Sung. This profound immersion into Vajrayana practice will take place in a hybrid format (in-person in Itaipava, RJ, and online) from days 2 to 5 July.

About the retreat

Each night, we enter a subtle and intimate realm of our consciousness. In Western psychology, an uninterpreted dream is like a sealed letter. The profound Vajrayana practice of Dream Yoga invites us to awaken consciously within this space, transforming the dream into a field of direct experience and inner exploration. Instead of remaining unconscious, we learn to recognize the dream state as a field of cognition—revealing the nature of the mind.

In this program, Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, who holds the Yuthok Nyingthig Buddhist lineage, offers clear and practical guidance drawn from the teachings of Yuthok Yönten Gonpo—the father of Tibetan medicine. Participants explore how the dream landscape reflects the inner psychological world, bringing awareness to emotions and subconscious patterns that often remain hidden during waking life. Through both essential theory and experiential methods, dreams become gateways to self-knowledge, integration, and healing.

Dream Yoga provides skillful means to work directly with obstacles as they arise—allowing deeply held imprints and psychological blockages to be experienced, understood, and gradually released within both dream and waking states. Through this process, practitioners cultivate a refined awareness that supports the mind’s natural capacity for self-healing.

Longchenpa Lüjong Yoga

Complementing the Dream Yoga teachings, daily Lüjong (Tibetan yogic body training) sessions with Liz Sung prepare and support the practitioner on a physical and energetic level. Rooted in the teachings of the 14th century Dzogchen master Longchenpa, this dynamic yoga works to open the body, balance the elements, and harmonize the internal organs according to Sowa Rigpa principles. By releasing physical and energetic blockages, the practice of Lüjong Yoga facilitates the practice of Dream Yoga.

Together, these practices form a comprehensive path: the body is unblocked, energy is balanced, and the mind is refined. Rooted in Yuthok Nyingthig*, the primary spiritual tradition of Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan Medicine), these teachings offer concise and essential methods suited to modern practitioners.

*They support psychological and energetic balance, contribute to well-being and longevity, and ultimately point toward liberation.

Below is a link to a PDF brochure containing images and additional information about the accommodations and room rates. If you choose not to stay at Aldeia Akasha, there are inns in the Vale do Cuiabá region and in Itaipava, but we recommend arranging your own transportation.

Meals will be served in the Aldeia Akasha dining hall, featuring natural cuisine with vegetables from its agroforestry, including vegan options. We recommend purchasing the meal package even if you will not be staying at Aldeia Akasha, as other restaurants are far from the retreat center, requiring a private vehicle and leaving little time for meals.
